…Build Your Own Dolls House – Adding Interior Walls

This article follows on from …Build Your Own Dolls House – Adding A Staircase.

Interior walls help to strengthen the structure of your dolls house. They are usually fed into grooves in the exterior walls to make them secure. Grooves can be cut with a router or with a chisel following lines scored with a craft knife and steel rule. Upright partition walls can then be sanded and planed to fit along these grooves. Once you are happy with a dry run, they can be glued and screwed or panel pinned into place. (The interior walls should not be permanently attached until the exterior dolls house shell is complete and glued in place.

If you have a narrow hall way, small or difficult to access rooms or alcoves, it can be easier to decorate and wire them before securing interior walls.
