Art Deco LightingArt Deco Lighting was characterised by ornamentation. The colour of Art Nouveau lampshades was gone, to be replaced by:-
Metal mounts replaced the traditional Bronze mounts of the Victorian era. Shades were pale with a milky or opaque appearance. Lalique made lamps with flower and fruit motifs. They also produced a series of luminaire, pieces of sculpture with lighting housed inside their bronze bases. Maison Desny were also prolific lamp designers during the Art Deco period. They created lamps for interiors which did away with the central point. Wall brackets, chandeliers and floor lamps with up turned semi domed shades projected the light up towards the ceiling. |
